$4,050 11 Day Fully Australian Led Tour
Staying at all the Key Locations on the Battlefields
Immerse yourself in the footsteps of heroes as we guide you through this iconic World War II trail, offering a profound connection to Australia's military history. The backdrop of the beautiful, rugged, and sometimes harsh terrain of the PNG jungle, the very ground upon which the events of 1942-45 took place, sets the scene for our master storytellers to bring the voices of our ancestors to life.
The Bulldog Track is one of the lesser known tracks in PNG, and is also historically called the Bulldog-Wau road. The track is in the Western End of the Owen Stanley Range. After penetrating dense rainforest, ithe track winds through steep ridges for some 60km, climbing to over 3000m, before dropping down to Wau. The track is rugged and isolated, combining hot and humid days, and cold nights, and torrential rain.
In 1943, Australian Army engineers createda road from Bulldog to Wau, in order to establish a supply line for battles in the Markham Valley and the northern coast of PNG. The road was finally completed in August 1943 when two jeeps travelled from Edie Creek to Bulldog. Along the way you will see remnants of the road. This trek is also sometimes combined with The Black Cat Track to finish at Salamaua.
This trek is an on-demand trek only, with a minimum of 6 trekkers, and is usually conducted from May to August. If you have a group of six or more, we can arrange a date that suits your requirments.
Our Bulldog trek provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to trek through the rugged terrain and dense jungles of Papua New Guinea, retracing the path of the brave soldiers who fought in the Bulldog-Wau Road. Led by our expert guides, who possess extensive local knowledge and historical expertise, you'll gain a deep understanding of the battles, sacrifices, and triumphs that unfolded along this hallowed ground.
