PNG Tourist Visa Applications can now only be done online as per the link - eVisa (ica.gov.pg) - and Visa’s on Arrival from Australia are no longer available. Please note online visas will incur a US$50 processing fee but have instant turnaround.

1.

Prepare your uploads.

To make your application you will need to have ready the following documents. We suggest you save these on your desktop or somewhere that is easily accessible.

  • Passport Bio page
  • Return Air Ticket (into/out of PNG)
  • Cover letter addressed to the Chief Migration officer, stating the applicant's name, nature of visit. Organisation or applicant will take care of his/her expenses while in the country. (This is the letter we send you-note you have to insert your details by writing over the areas in red, saving as a PDF and ready to upload.
  • Bank statement (name should be stated on the bank statement (1 page).

Visit: eVisa (ica.gov.pg)

Then click on the 5th tab along the top that says Visitor. Then on the left-hand side you want to select Tourist-Tour Package (third from the bottom) Once you have done this, click apply.

  • Select your Nationality from the drop-down menu and click proceed.
  • Enter your email address and click Register.
  • You will then receive an email, click on this and verify your account. Here you will need to set a password and a secret question in the event you need to unlock your account.
  • Then select New Application

From here you will go through several questions before uploading your documents.

How long do you wish to stay in PNG:

Write the number of days you will be in PNG e.g., 11 days.

How will you be funding your stay in PNG:

Select Own Funds (Click Save)

Enter your personal details then click save.

Enter your passport details then click save.

Enter any Alias or previous names on passport if not then continue and click save.

Answer all questions in History and then click save.

Enter your address where you live in Australia then enter the following address:

Then click save.

Enter your emergency contact details then click save.

You will now be asked to upload the following which you have already prepared:

Upload

  • Evidence Of Funds
  • Cover Letter
  • Copy of Passport Bio page
  • Return airline eticket

After you have successfully uploaded your documents, click confirm then you will need to pay for the visa.

Your Visa can take up to 10 business days to be emailed to you.

DIGITAL ARRIVAL CARD

Prior to arrival in PNG. All passengers are required to complete the Papua New Guinea Immigration & Citizenship Service Authority (PNGICSA) advises all travellers that the PNG Digital Arrival Card (PNGDAC) is now in effect from 1st October 2025.

The PNGDAC replaces the traditional paper-based arrival card and allows travellers to complete their passenger declaration online before arriving in Papua New Guinea. This new system makes travel faster, easier and more secure while also strengthening our border management.

How to Complete the PNGDAC:

  • Submit online at pngdac.ica.gov.pg
  • Enter your personal, travel and declaration details
  • Review your details, submit and receive confirmation email
  • Present the confirmation with your passport to an officer on arrival

Travellers who do not complete the PNGDAC online can use the self-service kiosks upon arrival at Jacksons International Airport.

DEPARTING PNG

Green Fee

The Green Fee is a K50.00 climate levy introduced by the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) for foreign passport holders departing Papua New Guinea (PNG). This is a fee to offset their carbon footprints while in PNG. The fee contributes to strengthen sustainable development programs focusing around eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation programs.

Who is required to pay the Green Fee?

All foreign passport holders departing Papua New Guinea are required to pay the K50.00 Green Fee at designated collection points prior to departure.

Are there any exemptions?

YES, the following are exempted:

  • PNG Passport Holders
  • Children under 12 years of age
  • Military personnels, members of international security force either police or military, corrections or special agents while on duty
  • Crew members of a Vessels or ship
  • Transiting passengers of less than 12 hours

Where and how can I pay the Green Fee?

Payments can be made through the following channels:

  • At International Airports: Green Fee collection booths located within departure terminals. This is encouraged for individual/single payment.
    • At CCDA Headquarters: Revenue Office, Enchi Building, Fig Street, Wards Road, Hohola, Port Moresby). This is encouraged for both early and bulk payments.
    • Payment Methods:
      • Cash
      • Debit/Credit Cards (via BSP EFTPOS – accepts all major cards)
      • Direct bank transfer (SMS banking, online banking)
      • Online payment (system currently under development, expected to launch within the next quarter)
