In July 2017, Kokoda Historical undertook a unique trek which saw 14 Australians and 6 Papuans recreate the first crossing by the 39 Australian Infantry Battalion. This epic trek had all participants wearing period uniforms, carrying .303 rifles, eating period style rations and following the route taken by Captain Sam Templeton and the men of B Company.
