In October 2024, Threlfall embarked on an extraordinary journey to Papua New Guinea, retracing the steps of his great-uncle and the 7th Australian Division after their campaign at Kokoda. The remote and virtually untouched battlefields of Shaggy Ridge still bore the scars of conflict from weapon pits to slit trenches and bunkers, giving a unique insight into the challenging reality of the conflict.
This talk will bring the campaign to life and provide audiences with an unprecedented look into a battlefield that few Australians have heard of and even fewer have visited.
The talk will be followed by a commemorative Last Post service in honour of the Battle for Shaggy Ridge.
