ANZAC Day Trek 2018
$3,850 12 Day Fully Australian Led Tour (15-26 April) or
$4,245 13 Day Fully Australian Led Tour of Kokoda Track & Northern Beachheads (13-26 April)
This Anzac Day we are offering two very special in-depth history treks.
You can choose to either visit to Buna, Gona & Sanananda before trekking Kokoda or simply join us to do the Kokoda Track. Either way you are guaranteed to have a most memorable trek as we immerse ourselves in the history and culture of PNG. So we can attend the Dawn Service we have added an extra night's stay at the wonderful Crowne Plaza Hotel. This is at no extra charge to you!
Both trips start trekking from Kokoda, following the path of the opening stages of the Kokoda Campaign. Along the way we will be visiting all the major battlefields along the Kokoda Track including Isurava, Eora Creek & Brigade Hill before finishing at Owers' Corner.
On ANZAC Day 25 April we will attend the official Dawn Service at the Bomana War Cemetery. We will then have lunch at the Royal Port Moresby Yacht Club. This will be the perfect conclusion to your very special pilgrimage.
It is one thing to simply tick the Kokoda Track off a bucket list, but it is quite another to undertake a pilgrimage that immerses you in our proud wartime history. The backdrop of the beautiful, rugged and sometimes harsh terrain of the PNG jungle, the very ground upon which the events of 1942 took place, sets the scene for our master story tellers to bring the voices of our ancestors to life.
Kokoda Historical wants you to get excited about Australian history! We aim to bring to life the many number of ordinary people that became extraordinary heroes of our proud nation. We are talking about the soldiers, civilians and Papuans that were embroiled in the Second World War in the jungles of the Owen Stanley Ranges. They are true Australian heroes that stood between tyranny and freedom and-we will remember them.
So, pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and immerse yourself in the past as you join us on our ANZAC Day 2018 pilgrimage over the Kokoda Track. We have over twelve years’ experience trekking the battlefields of PNG and studying our proud history along with interviewing the veterans, serving in the Australian Defence Force and bringing the history to life through innovative methods.
